FOOD at FINDLAY

Let’s be honest– one of the most important things for a college student to know is where to eat. Eating is one of my favorite things to do. When you’re studying all day long, it’s so nice to grab a bite of great food with some great friends. As a freshman, it has taken me a little bit to figure out my favorite spots to hit when I am looking for something to eat, but luckily for Findlay students, we have lots of great choices right here on campus!

  1. The Refinery- My personal favorite place to eat on campus is at the The Refinery in the Center for Student Life. For those of you who do not know, this building is brand new this year. With the addition of a new building for the College of Business, we now also have a great place to hang out, study, and eat. The restaurants offer everything from tacos to subs to sushi. I love all of the restaurants that are offered in The Refinery, but my favorite by far is Mein Bowl! I love the orange chicken with fried rice (the sushi is pretty great too). 2. Henderson Dining Hall- Although we have only one dining hall on campus, Henderson (better known as Hendo) definitely does not disappoint! I know that I can go to Hendo almost any time of the day and get something great to eat. Also, it is a good place to meet up with friends and take a break from classes. Here is a picture of me and my friend Kinley!  Don’t have time to sit down and eat? No worries, they have great options at Simply To-Go that you can take with you to class. In my opinion though, the best part about Henderson is the specialty dinners that they put on. Every month, we have steak night where you can choose between steak, chicken cordon bleu or fried shrimp. This night gives you a taste of eating at a restaurant, and that is such a refreshing feeling! At Henderson, I never get bored of the choices they offer.
  3. Derrick Dollars- Eating on campus is great, but sometimes you just need to get away. A great thing about meal plans at Findlay, is with every plan you get money that you can use at places around town. Some of my favorite ways to spend Derrick Dollars are at George House Coffee, Penn Station and East of Chicago Pizza. Having the option to not only use swipes at the dining hall but Derrick Dollars off campus helps me to never get sick of what I am eating. Come on, doesn’t this look yummy!

Choosing a meal plan as a freshman can be stressful. Sometimes it is hard to know what to expect with the food services until you are on campus. Many times, people get tired of food they have to eat on campus and are dying to eat a home-cooked meal. That hasn’t happened to me yet! With so many options, there’s no way you can’t find something that you love!
