New year, new building!

Delaney on stairway of new buildingThe start of a new school year has always been an exciting time for me, but this year there was even more excitement because it’s my senior year and I’ll get to enjoy the new Center for Student Life and College of Business building. As a marketing major, I’m anxious to learn in its innovative classrooms and learning spaces, and as a student, I’m beyond happy that we now have an amazing place to relax, study and eat on campus.

Learning CommonsThe second story of the new building, home to the College of Business, has grand auditoriums, classrooms and conference rooms, and the interior designer wasn’t afraid of Oiler Orange! There are also two learning commons on the second floor that will be great places to collaborate on projects and study.

One of the things that I’m most excited about is the Big Ideas Incubator—where students can develop entrepreneurial projects in-house! This room and so many others throughout the new building were donated by businesses and individuals who believe in the potential of students here.

Center for Student LifeThe first floor of the new building, home to the Center for Student Life, will feature dining options from subs to sushi in its food court called “The Refinery” (slated to open mid-September). The UF Bookstore will also be moving into the first floor; providing students with a central location to purchase supplies and Oiler gear! My favorite part about the first floor is the vast amount of seating – perfect for studying, eating, and hanging out!

I’m looking forward to seeing the impact this great new space will create for myself, fellow business majors and campus as a whole!
