Special Events Team Puts Game Faces On
Cleveland hosts first preseason game against the Redskins.
The Cleveland Browns officially kicked off their season recently under the lights with the Redskins. All my managers showed up looking official and sharp as can be with headsets in place and their game day faces on. That evening, the three of them would be managing all the game day operations for that evening, such as coordinating the drum line, flag runners, mascots, and also delegating responsibilities to other team staff members such as myself. I was fortunate to be up close on the field, shadowing my boss and assisting her with game day management.
The average fan attending a game might not notice all that goes on during game time. Managing the scoreboard, graphics, microphone disbursement, half-time performers, the kick-off kid and escorting the national anthem singer were just some of the tasks special events interns were assigned. What a surreal experience seeing all the hard work of our managers from the past year come together in for the first home pre-season game! Stadium renovations, new branding and new team uniforms are just a few upgrades for this season, and they all come with specific marketing strategies. To see our managers run this major operation with game faces on is truly inspiring, because I am confident that one day I will be in an important position doing a job I love!
