Graduation Bucketlist

Posted by Emily Gajewski in Perfect Fit. No Comments

28th April

Over the course of four years it’s tough to keep track of all the things you’ve done and the things still left to do before graduation.  From exploring the city of Findlay to participating on campus, here’s just some of the things you’ve got to do before you graduate.

1. Go to the Findlay Reservoir. I didn’t get to the reservoir until my senior year, and I wish I had discovered it earlier. There are paths around the water as well as in the surrounding woods. There’s also a great dog park and the park is usually filled with people enjoying the weather… when the weather is nice that is.

2. Take a walk down Main St. — no, don’t drive, walk!  There are a ton of little shops that you’d just pass by if you were in a car.  If you … Read More »

Rocking Out #OilerNation

10th February

On Friday February 7, Student Government Association gave the students of the University of Findlay a reason to stay on campus for the weekend by bringing in Quote Unquote and the Plain White T’s.

My day started with a text from Preston, one of the SGA (Student Government Association) leads on the event, asking if I could come help with setting up the stage.  So I threw on my neon staff shirt and headed over to Koehler.  I helped run cables, set up lights, and was an extra pair of hands wherever I was needed until I had to go to class at noon.

By the time I went back around 6 p.m., there was already a line out the door and the space in between the two doors was packed with people waiting to get in.  Luckily, my neon shirt helped … Read More »

Taking a break with CPB

Posted by Emily Gajewski in Perfect Fit. No Comments

10th December

Monday night of exams every semester Campus Program Board hosts Late Night Munchies in Henderson. You don’t need a meal plan to come to this late-night study break, which includes live music and free food. CPB always has really creative ideas to match the theme of the night to the style of the artist playing. One semester, they had a Sesame Street theme and another semester they turned Henderson into a jazz club.

This year, CPB brought in Ari Herstand, a vocal-looper who as a single performer sang to trumpets, guitars, piano and other voices– all created by him. It was a really unique experience. Ari had an amazing voice which was very easy to find relaxing while still being energetic enough to keep his rotating audience engaged.

This was the first year I didn’t help CPB set up the event and … Read More »

Wiener Wednesday

Posted by Emily Gajewski in Perfect Fit. No Comments

22nd November

As the end of the semester rushes toward the students at The University of Findlay, many of the clubs and groups host various events that help break up the stress of exams.  Campus Program Board hosts Late Night Munchies the Monday of exam week.  And Counseling Services hosts a stress buster night — one year a group even brought dogs from Teddy’s Rescue as an event!  This year, one of these events was Wiener Wednesday which was hosted by the Pre-Vet club.

It was a great event, and had a huge turn-out (much bigger than they were expecting).  Pre-Vet club handed out t-shirts, provided hot dogs, study suggestions and coloring pages.  Even though I went alone, it was a great time to just sit back and relax.

I pulled out my notebook to work on some homework while I ate my hot … Read More »

Back to some of my favorite campus spots!

25th September

That back to school feeling always feels amazing! It doesn’t matter whether you are a freshman or a graduate student — we all understand the excitement of going back to school during that first week. I was happy to come back to campus; it gave me a completely new vibe and energy.

It feels great to be back on campus! Our campus is very well laid out, and it’s easy to find many things to do. For me, the Alumni Memorial Union (AMU) is the best place to hang out. It is considered the student lounge on our campus, so one can find many student related activities happening there on a daily basis. Since I am an avid coffee lover, I usually spend most of my time inside the Cave, a cafe in … Read More »

The Price is Right

15th February

Last night, I went to a mock “The Price is Right” game show in the AMU, organized by the RA’s and RD’s.

I went because I needed a break from studies and football activities, and it sounded like a fun thing to do. I always loved watching the Price is Right game show on T.V., and I remember wishing I could be on the show.

So anyway, my roommate and I went, and there were games in the AMU, like a puzzle contest, corn hole, flip cup and water pong. Each game I played, there was a chance to win tickets for raffles and be selected out of the crowd to be able to play the bidding games. The more tickets you won, the higher your chance of getting selected and winning free stuff. After about 40 minutes … Read More »

A Stylish Night

15th February

The first weekend in February held The Black Tie Affair which is THE dance at Findlay. It is a more casual version of high school homecoming put on by the Black Student Union. Some people go with a date, while other people, like me, go with a group of friends. The BSU did an amazing job creating an elegant atmosphere, and the DJ played all the current music with some great beats. It’s so fascinating to see how everyone dresses and how they had their own unique sense of style.  Some girls went all out and wore long prom-styled dresses, where others wore shorter dresses, more like the club scene.  The men all looked so handsome – clearly they took Barney Stinson’s advice and suited up!  Needless to say, everyone looked great.

The Multipurpose room, where the Affair was held, looked … Read More »
