My Journey in the Dawg Pound

Posted by Delaney Haas in Delaney Haas. No Comments

4th December

If someone asked, “What does Delaney Haas love?,” the Cleveland Browns would be one of the first things mentioned.  I adore the (currently) winless AFC North team that is always full of surprises and chaos. I have been a Browns fan since birth, cheering on the team through thick and thin. But little did I know my outlook on the organization would transform into something much more than love for the team.

My journey with the Cleveland Browns started back in September 2015 when I attended the inaugural Browns Edge Career Development Summit. I was able to network with some of the Browns staff members, which helped me land some incredible game day opportunities that season including being a secret shopper, managing 15 Findlay volunteers and interning on Dawg Pound Drive. I then interned in Berea the following summer as a … Read More »

Push Yourself to the (Browns) Edge

26th September

Is there a day that you can honestly say changed your life? A day that impacted your education, career and social life?

Mine was on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at the inaugural Cleveland Browns Edge Summit at the University of Findlay. I was barely into sophomore year and had not really stepped outside my comfort zone. I attended the summit and decided to take advantage of the opportunity to network with members of the Cleveland Browns sales, partnerships, and fan experience departments. People talk about the power of networking, but I never knew that it would impact the rest of my life.

One of the Browns staff members reached out to me a couple of weeks after the summit asking if I was interested in volunteering on game day for the upcoming season. I accepted the offer and was soon told I … Read More »

Columbus-Bound for Orange & Brown Scrimmage!

Posted by Shannon Ebert in Tackling the Job. No Comments

18th August

Staying in a hotel overlooking the city and walking on the Buckeyes’ home field were just a few highlights of this trip. After a lively day of training camp in Berea, we packed everything we needed to host training camp, and hauled it straight to Columbus for the Orange and Brown Scrimmage. As you might imagine, this entailed some serious coordination! Fortunately, the Cleveland Browns has a top notch special events staff ready and willing to make this happen efficiently, and I was lucky to be part of the whole thing.

Here’s everything we needed to put in place for all those eager Browns fans ready to watch their favorite team in action. Would you be surprised if this was only one of about thirty pages we needed to study for the Orange and Brown Scrimmage?

Ready for Training Camp!

30th July

Training Camp ’15 is beginning! It’s a month-long summer event where Browns practices are free and open to the public, and fans can celebrate the beginning of another great season. One might find zip-lines, puppies up for adoption, bouncy houses, football toss games, ice cream, merchandise for sale, and best of all— great views of the players in action! So much goes into preparation for this main summer event for the Cleveland Browns.

Our intern duties include setting up bleachers, fencing, signage, tents, barricades, providing golf cart courier service and any other task that needs to be completed in order for Training Camp to come together. Above, you can see just some of the fruits of our efforts.

All of our hard work will finally pay off when those thousands of excited fans line up outside the gates to come watch their … Read More »

First Week in the Dawg Pound

22nd July

Week one on the job is complete! This special events internship has already exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to see what the next seven weeks will bring. During the first two weeks, we are working hard to prepare for our main event, The Cleveland Browns Training Camp, which begins July 30th. Preparation duties may include anything from moving bleachers to distributing flyers around the local neighborhoods to setting up 750 pound inflatables. It’s amazing to be part of the many behind the scenes efforts that come together for a pro team event! With just about a week of preparation left, there is still so much to do. Soon, players will be returning to the facility, sponsors will set up their tents and fans will flood the gates for this free event to watch the players and enjoy plenty of entertainment. Findlay Oiler to Browns Intern

Posted by risser in Tackling the Job. 1 Comment

15th July

It is surreal that I am starting an internship with The Cleveland Browns thanks to the Edge Partnership! Many would think starting a full-time job half way through summer would be the end of my summer fun, but not me. The highlight of my summer begins in Berea, as I take on the role of special events intern in a professional sports organization possessing one of the largest fan bases in U.S.! What an outstanding opportunity to get my first look at corporate experience.

A shot like this does not come without preparation. Along with other Findlay students, I’ve completed an intensive application and interview process since March. From writing cover letters, to long drives to Berea, to finding a place to live for two months, I can say all the time and effort was beyond worth it. My emotional rollercoaster has taken turns … Read More »
