If someone asked, “What does Delaney Haas love?,” the Cleveland Browns would be one of the first things mentioned. I adore the (currently) winless AFC North team that is always full of surprises and chaos. I have been a Browns fan since birth, cheering on the team through thick and thin. But little did I know my outlook on the organization would transform into something much more than love for the team.
My journey with the Cleveland Browns started back in September 2015 when I attended the inaugural Browns Edge Career Development Summit. I was able to network with some of the Browns staff members, which helped me land some incredible game day opportunities that season including being a secret shopper, managing 15 Findlay volunteers and interning on Dawg Pound Drive. I then interned in Berea the following summer as a … Read More »
When those gates open at 8:15 a.m., you bet every tent, barricade, table linen, chair, free poster, and inflatable is in its place before the Dawg Pound enters those gates! Even though we are required to arrive at 6 a.m., my alarm will sound at at the early hour of 4:30. After much preparation, working actual training camp is when the fun starts. Cleveland Browns fans come from all over the country, and even the world to see their favorite team prepare for the upcoming season. If watching the players up close, unlimited rides on the inflatable obstacle courses, give-aways and autographs sessions are not enough to bring fans in, then I do not know what is!
We have many responsibilities daily which are rotated each camp day, including setting everything up, scanning tickets, working the Browns Backers Worldwide tent, coordinating … Read More »
Training Camp ’15 is beginning! It’s a month-long summer event where Browns practices are free and open to the public, and fans can celebrate the beginning of another great season. One might find zip-lines, puppies up for adoption, bouncy houses, football toss games, ice cream, merchandise for sale, and best of all— great views of the players in action! So much goes into preparation for this main summer event for the Cleveland Browns.
Our intern duties include setting up bleachers, fencing, signage, tents, barricades, providing golf cart courier service and any other task that needs to be completed in order for Training Camp to come together. Above, you can see just some of the fruits of our efforts.
All of our hard work will finally pay off when those thousands of excited fans line up outside the gates to come watch their … Read More »
Week one on the job is complete! This special events internship has already exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to see what the next seven weeks will bring. During the first two weeks, we are working hard to prepare for our main event, The Cleveland Browns Training Camp, which begins July 30th. Preparation duties may include anything from moving bleachers to distributing flyers around the local neighborhoods to setting up 750 pound inflatables. It’s amazing to be part of the many behind the scenes efforts that come together for a pro team event! With just about a week of preparation left, there is still so much to do. Soon, players will be returning to the facility, sponsors will set up their tents and fans will flood the gates for this free event to watch the players and enjoy plenty of entertainment. Camp officially starts August 11th at 10:30 am. Wow — the summer literally flew by, because it feels like yesterday that the spring game was over. This year, camp is only eight days long, considering school starts on August 19th. Also there is only ONE two-a-day practice this year due to new regulations of the NCAA. This will  definitely be the shortest camp I’ve ever been a part of in twelve years of playing football. I can remember in high school when fall camp was three weeks long, full of two-a-days. So the pressure will be on immediately in the first practice to start preparing for our first game vs Urbana. I’m so excited for this year’s camp though, because I know that the team is excited coming off our last winning season. I’m also looking forward to our new uniforms … Read More »
